The show promo was the longest and hardest one to do. 

it took a lot of time to put together and get the audio levels right. i had to listen to the complete track to find the one bit i wanted to cut out to use in the actual track but it was worth while as i produced a good track. 


the station ident fun to do and fairly short, it lets you know what station you are listening to. playing with the voice was fun. i copied one audio recording three times and cut it down so that i could put different effects on each bit to make it sound interesting and then put it all together with a piece of music underneath to make it sound interesting. 


the news jingle happened by accident, i had the intro of amy winehouses' back to black, and i used a fellow class mates voice to have the voice on the jingle and fiddled with the audio levels so that it sounded right. 

8 shot journey

This was the 8 shot journey project, unfortunately we had to miss a day due to the lectures strike, which means we had one less day to prepare and film etc, however i believe we pulled it of and that it looks all right regardless of the missing day.

we did have problems with people walking through the shot when we were setting up and attempting to film, un-even surfaces made it hard to position the camera properly.

the last shot had to be done twice, due to camera positioning however on the second take we got it (i think)

the storyboard needed re drawing and i tried to stick to it as much as possible which i think i did.

before we went out filming we had to stripe our tapes which gave me extra prep time which i believe helped me be better prepared for going out and filming.

the weather was fine and dry which was immensely helpful for filming, due to the theme of the video (taking a flower to his girlfriend in the park) i believed this helped set the mood, de to it being sunny and bright it made the film look happy and gentle.

if it had of been raining then the mood of the film would have been greatly changed, it would have been dark and depressive and would have altered the feel of the theme of the film.

i think this project went well

 and it was my favorite so far.

My Pin Hole Results

This was my second attempt at an outdoors shot, i believe that this one was the best of all my efforts.

one problem that kept occuring was my exposure times, i was always either under or over exposed and this became very frustrating, however i was determined to get a good shot so i continued and this is the result.

i would have liked it if all of my shots came out like this but sadly most of them were black strips.

this is an over exposed shot of the atrium from the first floor balcony.

i must have moved during the exposure as it is blurry and i left the shutter open for too long as it is border line black.

this was the better of four indoor shots i done (atleast this one showed a little bit of image) everything else was over exposed.

i believe that this could have gone better, if i had of calculated my exposure times properly and had a little more time i could have possibly produced more and better pictures.

i enjoyed this project and found it easy to get on with and understood alot of it better than i thought i would.

Of Pin Hole Cameras. . .

Pin hole cameras are a light-proof box with a small hole in one side. Light from a scene passes through this single point and projects an inverted image on the opposite side of the box.

They are called pin hole cameras becasue the apeture is created with a pin, sounds simple does it not.

I built mine by painting the inside of a biscuit tin matte black, after leaving that to dry i drilled a hole in the side and smoothed of the rough edges, i set up some masking tape curls across from the pin hole so that the paper would have something to attach to and would not fall over during exposure,

i then made a lense out of a piece of tin foil that was taped to the outside of our hole and then made a cardboard shutter that was fixed with gaffer tape.

I them went into the dark room and loaded my camera with light sensitive photo paper, i then shut my camera

making sure it was light tight, then i was ready to go out and shot.

Before i went out with my pin hole camera i had to measure my focul length (the distance from lense to photo paper) for my tin it was 260mm, which would help me work out my exposure times.

the equation for this was focul length/diameter of the pinhole which in my case is

260mm / 0.8mm = 325 which worked out to be an exposure time of 2 mins outside and 20 mins inside.

this exposure time did not quite work out it resulted in either under or over exposure. i would like to do this project again so that i might get some better photos.

The Basics . . .

The day before we ran of to do our pinhole cameras we spent some time finding out what Photography and Cameras are all about. We learnt the definition of

-Photography-

*Photography is the process, activity and art of creating still or moving pictures . . . light patterns reflected or emitted from objects activate a sensitive chemical or electronic sensor during a timed exposure*

We also learnt various other things like, genres of photography (which include aerial, black and white, portrait, still life, stock,underwater, commercial and many others) what camera means. . .

* A device that records images, either as a still photograph or as a moving image known as videos or films.*

-Exposure-

*the period of time in which the photographic medium is exposed to the light from the scene, equivalent exposures can be made with a  larger aperture and a faster shutter speed or a corresponding smaller aperture with the shutter speed slowed down*

Aperture was an important part of what we needed to know to make our pinhole cameras.

*Aperture is a hole or opening through which light travels, this is measured in f-stops*

-Lens-

*The lenses of a camera capture the light form the scene and bring it into focus for the photographic medium*

4 – 4^th second

8 – 8^th second

15 – 15^th second

30 – 30^th second

60 – 60^th second

(smaller the number the bigger the aperture)
